BAires CANTA is organized by FUNDECUA, Fundación para el Desarrollo, la Cultura y el arte (Foundation for development, culture and art)

FUNDECUA is a non-profitable foundation that works on improving life of the underprivileged sectors of our society through musical activities.

FUNDECUA also organizes the EIOJ - International Youth Orchestra Festival since 2001, which hosts 50 youth orchestras every year and "Música sin Edad" (Ageless Music) program and concert season.

which features renowned international professors, the International Youth Orchestras Festival, which gathers 50 Youth Orchestras every year and The Iguazu in Concert International Youth Orchestra & Choir festival

She hosted the 29th IDRS (International Double Reed Society) Conference in Buenos Aires in August  2OOO and was Vice-president of the Association between 1997 and 2OO1. She is member of the Teatro Colon Philarmonic Orchestra.


Awards

In 1999 she was distinguished with  the "International Woman of the Year" Award of the Cambridge Biographical Institute (England).
In 1998 she was honored with the "Woman of the Year" Award of the American Biographical Institute (U.S.A.).
In 1999, she was awarded the Konex Merit Diploma.
She won First Prizes at the "Estímulo Cultural", "Promociones Musicales", "Jóvenes Solistas" Ciudad de Mar del Plata and "Bienal Nacional de Festivales Musicales” Competitions and was awarded a prize for the best performance of Argentine Music in the National Music Competition of Banco Mayo.

Solo Performing
Miss Merenzon has performed as a Soloist with the following orchestras: Nacional Argentina, Filarmónica de Buenos Aires, de Mar del Plata, de Bahía Blanca, de San Juan, de Córdoba, de Tucumán, de Santa , de Entre Rios, de Cámara de la Plata, Latinoamericana de Juventudes Musicales (Uruguay), de Concepción (Chile), Indiana University (USA), Paris Sinfonietta and Toulouse Chamber Orchestra (France), Adana (Turkey), Nacional Brasilera (Brasil) and the US Army Symphony (USA).
She has performed recitals and appeared as a soloist in France, Iceland, Uruguay, Brasil, Chile, México, USA, Canada and Turkey.
In Paris, she played the premières of the concerts for Bassoon and Orchestra by Julio Pardo, Augusto Rattenbach, Roque de Pedro, Astor Piazzolla-Gabriel Senanes and Alonso Crespo.
In 1996, she was invited to play as soloist with Paris Sinfonietta at  the Salle Pleyel (Paris).
She was also especially invited by the International Conference  of the IDRS
in Tallahassee, Chicago, Arizona, Wisconsin, West Virginia, (USA) and the Banff Center (Canada).


Miss Andrea Merenzon began her bassoon studies with her father, Alberto Merenzon, and her Chamber Music studies with Mariano Frogioni. Aided by a scholarship of the Teatro Colón Foundation, she studied with Sidney Rosemberg at Indiana University, USA. She later took graduate courses with Klauss Thunemann (Germany) and Nöel Devos (France).
